When Local 439 Firefighters walked precincts and sought petition signatures in the eddy, cold months leading up to your first run for City Council, we knew right away that you were ready to represent your community and work extremely hard for Elgin.
In short time, you showed all of Elgin that you are a man of high moral character with the vision and energy needed to help our City grow sustainably. Your ability to connect with citizens from all neighborhoods of the City show just how much you care for everyone in it.
However, it was 2017-2021 when you truly cemented a trust with all of our Union Firefighters. At a time when our safety, benefits, contractual rights, and even our integrity was unilaterally attacked by City Hall, you paid attention. When we needed to voice our concerns, you listened. While votes were being counted, you voiced your support for our wellbeing. In our profession, trust is earned and never given. And over the years, I've come to know that it works the same with you.
